At the West Indies Sugar & Trading Company (Wistco), we believe that when it comes to sugar, less is very definitely more; which is why we’re so selective about our sugar, how it’s made and how it’s used. We’re happy to pay more than any other company for exceptional sugar, an approach that has been designed to ensure the survival of the Barbados sugar industry and the communities that depend upon it.

Until recently, the European Union provided support for sugar producing countries but since July 2006, the subsidies have been steadily reduced. Wistco has been formed as part of a series of measures to support the island’s sugar industry that is threatened by this drastic reduction in subsidies.

The West Indies Sugar & Trading Company is a joint venture between the the Barbados sugar industry (through the Barbados Agricultural Management Company Ltd), Goddard Enterprises Ltd, a long established family company in Barbados, and minority UK interests.
